  • Jim Midgett

    LEAD PASTOR

Jim was born to Christian parents, who pastored a church in Taber Alberta. Like most children of the 80's Jim dreamed of one day being a Transformer. Jim grew up in Red Deer AB, eventually going to Alberta Bible College for his undergraduate work.  Jim then moved to Halifax NS, where he entered into full time ministry as an associate pastor at Halifax Christian Church.  He then met and married his wife Samara. In 2013 Jim and Samara had their first child Olivia. Then in 2017 they were blessed with another daughter Alice.
Jim became pastor here at SCC in 2015, due to the calling of the Lord. Jim has a Masters of Arts and Religion in Pastoral Leadership, and is currently studying at Dallas Theological Seminary for a Doctorate in Christian Educational Ministry.
He is passionate about the word, and sees this calling from the Lord as an opportunity to  make known Christ to all people.

Corwin Tompson

Associate Pastor of Youth and Family Ministries

I’ve been blessed to serve at Selkirk Christian Chapel since September 2023 and have a deep
desire to see people—especially youth and families—rooted in God’s Word and made alive in
Christ. I’m passionate about theology, sound doctrine, and helping others grow in faith, wisdom, and wholehearted devotion to Jesus.
I hold a Bachelor of Arts degree in Religious Studies and am currently pursuing a Master of
Divinity degree in Pastoral Ministry at Tyndale Seminary. I’m now more than halfway through
the program. Prior to my role at SCC, I served as the worship leader at Saturate Church in
Mississauga, where my love for ministry and the local church deepened significantly.
Together with my wonderful wife Laura, a Christian school teacher, I helped start Illuminate
Christian Academy, where we taught and shaped young minds in a Christ-centred learning
environment.
In addition to ministry, I enjoy music, creative projects, reading, sports, staying active, and
spending time with Laura and our two birds—Professor (a cockatiel) and Lalaith (a linnie). It’s a
joy to serve in a church family where we’re being shaped by God’s Word, formed in Christ, and
led by the Spirit.
