Jim was born to Christian parents, who pastored a church in Taber Alberta. Like most children of the 80's Jim dreamed of one day being a Transformer. Jim grew up in Red Deer AB, eventually going to Alberta Bible College for his undergraduate work. Jim then moved to Halifax NS, where he entered into full time ministry as an associate pastor at Halifax Christian Church. He then met and married his wife Samara. In 2013 Jim and Samara had their first child Olivia. Even though his family loved the maritimes, they knew that God was calling them to other things. After accepting the call of the Lord, Jim became pastor here at SCC in 2015.
Gerald is a country boy at heart. In having grown up on his parents’ dairy farm in Haldimand County, he has a special love and appreciation for country people.
And, in having dedicated Christian parents, Gerald accepted Jesus into his life as his personal Saviour at the age of 4. At the age of 6, he experienced believers’ baptism by immersion in the waters of Lake Erie, followed shortly by church membership. The church has always been an important part of his life.
Gerald is a graduate of the 4-year Bachelor of Theology (B. Th.) program of Emmanuel Bible College, Kitchener, Ontario.
Over a 40-year span, and with the supportive help of his wife, Jane, he has pastored 4 local congregations; located in Guelph, Mississauga, Mechanicsburg (USA), and Cheapside.
Gerald & Jane were married to each other in August of 1968. They have 3 grown sons, and 7 grandchildren. Each summer, the family shares one full-week in camping together at Camp Kahquah, Magnetewan, ON.
Gerald & Jane are enjoying their present journey with the Selkirk Christian Chapel. They find the people of this congregation to be sincere in their faith, responsive to ministry, and a lot of fun to be with.
